My Passion: Learning & Growing
I’m always excited by possibilities and long to spark lasting change, especially change in others. I’m fascinated by human learning and intrigued by the joy and energy learning creates. I’m most alive when I see someone have a new insight, grow from a challenge, experience overcoming an obstacle, or learn new skills that create new possibilities.
I coach faculty, staff, graduate students, and emerging leaders in higher education who want to maximize their contributions and personal satisfaction with careers that have not YET unfolded as they imagined.
Momemtum surges when you connect with a current desire, or reconnect with an earlier vision of your career, and create a path forward toward obtaining that desire or vision. We work together to distinguish the meaningful from the obligations, to learn what to readily embrace, how to say no when necessary, and to develop a strategy for managing the essential and exploring new opportunities.
My Experience: Professional & Personal
I have 25 years experience in higher education guiding and supporting students, faculty, staff, and administrators. As an educator, scholar, and leader at three very different institutions, I have honed the skills of juggling multiple projects, writing, teaching, publishing, building consensus, mentoring, organizing, designing courses, and coaching others to become their best selves.
I’ve experienced transformation many times in my life and know the power that belief and action can create. I’ve experienced the frustration that comes from procrastination, overcommitment, and expecting others’ appreciation and support that never came.
I’ve experienced challenge and developed perservance and determination! I took 11 years and 5 colleges just to complete my 4-year undergraduate degree! The challenges now commonly associated with ADHD plagued me for decades. But when I came along this “challenging gift” was not as well understood as it is today.
I’ve also learned not to always priortize others’ needs. Instead I now occasionally say no and, most importantly, take responsibility for myself rather than look to others for validation.
I’ve learned how learning works and applied this knowledge to change my teaching as well as develop new, more productive habits and mindsets.
Most importantly, I’ve grown and developed strategies for tackling fear, feelings of inadequacy, and perfectionism that fueled my procrastination.
I would love to coach you to experience your unique transformation!
